Alternative uses for laminate kitchen worktops and breakfast bars

The kitchen.....  this is the obvious place for a laminate kitchen worktop and breakfast bar! Have you thought where else they can be used?

1/ Utility room.

Worktops for utility rooms at the standard 600mm depth may not always be deep enough. It might be worth considering the deeper 665mm breakfast bar as plumbers and kitchen fitters often like to have the extra depth so there is enough room for waste pipes to be fixed to the wall behind washing machines and tumble driers.

2/ Playrooms

We often sell brightly coloured plain coloured Formica covered worktops to private customers for children’s playrooms.

3/ Playgroups

Many childrens playgroups have bought bright plain coloured worktops from us. One customer in particular had a woodland theme going on at their playgroup and ordered Cactus C049 worktops, then they decorated the walls with tree and branch pictures along with woodland animals.

4/ Schools

We have sold to many schools as brightly coloured playrooms/classrooms are proving to be stimulating environments for learning and becoming more and more popular.

5/ Universities

University IT suite furniture can be created by fitting 665m deep breakfast bars back to back on a steel framework. Upstands or any other central divider can then be set up to accommodate electrical sockets for the PCs and monitors. Alternatively, heavy electrical trunking can be fixed either at the back of the breakfast bar or as a divider if two sets of students are facing each other. Data cables and interconnecting cables can be fitted inside the trunking.

6/ Reception Desks

Breakfast bars, as they are postformed (laminate is wrapped around the edge) on both long edges, lend themselves for use on shop counters, trade counters, reception desks etc. They can be shaped on the ends and re-edged using matching laminate edging strip.

7/ Bathrooms

Although most bathroom worktops such as Bushboard Nuance are typically 360mm deep and 28 to 30mm thick, standard kitchen worktops can also be used in a bathroom. As long as they are properly sealed against water ingress then they will last for a long time.

8/ Workshops and domestic garages.

Laminate worktops and breakfast bars can often be the most durable and best priced work surfaces for a garage or a workshop/garden shed. Quite often secondhand kitchen units are utilised for the base units, then new worktops or even secondhand worktops fitted as the working surface.
